SafeOnSea - App Concept
Brief:
To improve the safety instructions displayed on cruise ships.
Outcome:
After intensive research into existing safety information on cruise ships, I discovered it was flawed because the information is displayed on the back of the passenger cabin doors. This relies on the passenger memorising the information or being in the room at the time of an emergency. So, it was clear to me that something new and more innovative was required.
This led me to designing an App which allows passengers to view compulsory safety information & real time navigation to crucial areas of the ship. It was also apparent from my research that another problem with existing safety instructions was the information was not translated into many languages. Therefore, I ensured all information on the App was communicated by pictograms, without using any words, so it can be understood by all nationalities and abilities.
My visual example below focused on the app being designed for the cruise company Royal Caribbean.
I entered this project into a competition called Flare, which helps individuals launch new businesses and innovative ideas. After successfully completing all rounds, I reached the final where I had to pitch my product to a panel of 4 judges.
